Two former state titleholders continue on in their quest to become the American Idol

Orlando, FL-- February 12, 2009- The Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization announced today that two of their former contestants have made it to the next round on American Idol. Arianna Afsar, 17, was Miss California's Outstanding Teen 2005 and Jasmine Murray, 17, was Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2007.

Afsar originally auditioned in Phoenix, AZ and Murray auditioned in Jacksonville, FL. Afsar was the first runner-up to Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2006 and started a mentoring program called "Adopt a Grandparent." Murray was a top 10 finalist and has received recognition for her outstanding community service with the U.S. Dream Academy. Both girls received scholarship money for their achievements.

Miss America's Outstanding Teen, the "little sister" to the Miss America Organization, is a scholarship-based program offering accomplished teens the opportunity to be awarded funds for college. The program promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens. In the past four years, the organization has made available more than $3 million in college scholarships.

"Jasmine and Arianna are two perfect examples of what this country needs as the next America Idol. They are both academic leaders, community activists, and dedicated volunteers," said Kim Parrish, president of MAOT. "They are well-rounded teens and would set a shining example for other teens to follow. MAOT is proud of these two former contestants."

Both girls will continue on in the competition which can be seen nationally on FOX on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8/7 Central.

Jewell Green, business leader, philanthroper and wife of NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Darrell Green, accepted an invitation to be part of Miss America's Outstanding Teen, Inc. Board of Directors last weekend at the NFL Wives Off the Field charity event in Tampa, Florida. Green is a successful business leader and entrepreneur residing in Washington, D.C. MAOT, the little sister organization to the Miss America Pageant, is a non-profit organization which has made available more than $3 million in college scholarships in the past four years.

Miss America's Outstanding Teen is a scholarship-based program offering accomplished teens the opportunity to be awarded funds for college, thanks to the efforts of thousands of volunteers across the country. The first Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition for girls 13 to 17 was held in 2005, and the current titleholder is Taylor Fitch of South Carolina. The 2009 competition will take place August 11 - 15, 2009 in Orlando, FL.

Green, Co-founder of the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation, is heavily involved in charity work. The Youth Life Foundation was established in 1988, created to make a difference in the lives of children whose family lives and circumstances have limited their opportunities to realize their potential. By exemplifying both the integrity and values-based leadership of its founders, the Foundation has given each and every child it has come into contact with the kind of guidance and support needed for each child to grow into a successful and productive young adult.
"I'm pleased to have Jewell Green join our Board of Directors," said MAOT President Kim Parrish. "She brings a strong business sense and philanthropic mind to the group. She also lends a fresh perception to our growing organization"

"Jewell has a genuine passion for the MAOT organization especially for the success of the girls. She was personal friends to our MAOT 2008 winner Caitlin Brunell which brought her closer to the organization and the power it has on young women, and she has been an amazing advocate of the program ever since," said Jennifer Crawford, member of the Board of Directors. "We are proud to have someone with her enthusiasm, fresh ideas and network joining our board."

Green will join the MAOT Board of Directors consisting of 12 business leaders from various parts of the United States. The Board is lead by Donna Bozarth, Chairman of the Board, from Orlando, Florida.

Congratulations to Jennifer McKenna, MAOT Director of Development, and her husband Ken on the birth of their new baby girl!

Kady Anne was born on January 22nd at 11:45am weighing 6 lbs. 4 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Good luck to one of our National Princesses, CoCo Clemens as she heads to the Pennsylvania State Derby this weekend in Western Pennsylvania Seven Springs!

It is our distinct honor and pleasure to announce the new Pageantry partnership with the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program. As the leading magazine for over 30 years in the beauty and modeling industry, Pageantry continues to leverage the strength of its brand in forming alliances beneficial to the industry as a whole.

With the introduction of the newest brand to the Pageantry family, the Pageantry and PromTime Online Fashion Boutique, the corporation has joined forces with the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program, a sister event of the recently televised Miss America Organization Pageant in providing much needed scholarship money to deserving young women. As producers of the world's largest on-site photo shoot for both Pageant gowns and Prom dresses, Pageantry is donating a percentage of each sale to the Miss America's Outstanding Teen scholarship fund. In producing the largest fashion showcase in the industry the past 19 years, Pageantry is again leading the industry in promoting not only its fashion and boutique partners, but also addressing the necessity of helping positive programs such as Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

"I am so pleased with the relationship Miss America's Outstanding Teen has with Pageantry magazine," said MAOT President Kim Parrish. We're incredibly grateful to them for implementing a fundraiser through their Pageantry and PromTime Online Fashion Boutique which will help contribute to the thousands of dollars in scholarship MAOT distributes each year. I respect Pageantry for being the powerhouse in the industry as well as their willingness to recognize and contribute to a good cause.
"We are forever grateful for the support MAOT has received from the leading publication in the pageant industry, Pageantry. I encourage all of our supporters, enthusiasts and fans to check out the Pageantry and PromTime Online Fashion Boutique and consider purchasing their gowns from this site. Simply by entering the promotional code for MAOT, Pageantry is helping to contribute to the college scholarships of young women this year. We appreciate all Pageantry has done for our scholarship competition."

As well as donating a percentage of the sales from the Pageantry and PromTime Online Fashion Boutique, Pageantry has additionally formed alliances with several boutiques across the country to fulfill the necessary shipments. This has provided a win-win opportunity for all industry partners; Pageantry and PromTime, its fashion design partners, fashion boutiques, as well as the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program.
Pageantry would like to thank our current fashion partners for allowing us the opportunity to continue producing the world's largest fashion showcase as well in supporting our efforts to effectively help deserving young women through the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Program in these challenging economic times.
