and the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization in Tampa
Orlando, FL--
March 23, 2009 - Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund is
slated to attend a local fundraiser in Tampa to help raise
funds for the Children's Miracle Network and the Miss
America's Outstanding Teen Organizations. The fundraiser will
be presented by Brighthouse Networks and hosted by WCI . It
will take place at 7PM, Saturday, April 18th at The Westshore
Yacht Club.
Haglund is the former Goodwill Ambassador for the Children's
Miracle Network. During her year of service as Miss America,
she traveled around the country helping to create awareness
and raise money for the organization. Miss America’s
Outstanding Teen, Inc., the "little sister" to the Miss
America Organization, is also proud to be an ambassador to the
Children’s Miracle Network and host and participate in this
incredible event. All proceeds raised for Children’s Miracle
Network will stay locally in the Tampa area.
Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization
dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by
raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.
The 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals are there 24
hours a day to help kids of every age and background overcome
every imaginable disease and injury—from asthma and broken
bones to cancer, heart defects, pediatric AIDS, muscular
dystrophy and serious injuries. These children's hospitals are
also on the front lines of preventing disease and injury
through research, education and outreach programs that keep
millions of kids out of the hospital each year. The local
hospital that benefits from Children’s Miracle Network in the
Tampa/St Pete area is All Children’s Hospital in St.
Petersburg.
Typically a members only club, for this exclusive event night
only, the Westshore Yacht Club will be open to ticket holders
for the fundraiser. Guests will enjoy waterfront dinner, open
bar, entertainment, silent auction items and gambling on 30
casino tables and slot machines provided by Florida Casino
Company.
The event is co-chaired by Jennifer Crawford, MAOT board
member, and Kim Parrish, President of MAOT. In addition to
Haglund, the honorary committee members are former ABC
Bachelor and creator of the Royal Treatment Italian Pet Spa
Lorenzo Borghese, Tampa Bay Division President of Brighthouse
Networks Michael Robertson, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Josh Johnson,

Children's Miracle Network
Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization
dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by
raising funds for children¹s hospitals across North America.
Through its
year-round efforts to help kids, Children's Miracle Network
has raised more than $3.4 billion to date, most of which is
donated a dollar or two at a time by caring individuals across
North America.
All Children's Hospital is the only freestanding children’s
hospital on Florida’s West Coast and a leader in pediatric
treatment, education, research and advocacy. The mission of
this private, not-for-profit hospital is rooted in its
beginnings as Florida’s first Crippled Children’s Hospital for
polio victims. All Children’s understands that it’s not enough
to treat disease -- that true progress comes from teaching and
research to cure disease. All Children’s shares its pediatric
expertise through research & education affiliations with the
University of South Florida (USF Health) as well as the H. Lee
Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.
As a regional referral center for children with some of the
most challenging medical problems, All Children’s draws
patients from throughout Florida, all 50 states and 36 foreign
countries. Growing regional demand is such that construction
is now underway on a new hospital and outpatient center to
replace the current 40-year old facility. When completed in
December 2009, it will represent nearly a million square feet
of space dedicated to state-of-the-art pediatric healthcare.
All Children’s is proud to be a member of the Children's
Miracle Network which supports over 170 pediatric hospitals in
North America.
