We want to extend a heartfelt
congratulations to Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2007,

O'Dowd also resides as CEO and Chairman of Dolphin Digital
Media, a publicly-traded technology company dedicated to
providing solutions for keeping children safer on the
Internet. Mr. O'Dowd graduated with honors from Harvard Law
School, has received a master's degree in modern European

Congratulations to Hailey
Ates, Miss AL OT, Julia Rae Schlucter, Miss PA OT, and
Shannon Folsom, Miss ME OT for winning the LA Experience
from Dolphin Entertainment and MAOT!

The LA Experience is a summer
trip to Los Angeles where students gain an exclusive
insider's guide to the entertainment industry. We limit our
trips to 12 families and guest speakers are comprised of our
friends and colleagues who donate their time because of
their shared commitment to encouraging the country's most
talented young performers. Students will get a chance to
meet with a variety of individuals that play a crucial role
in the industry including writers, producers, and directors.
They will also have the unique chance to audition for and
receive performance feedback from Executive Producer Bill
O'Dowd and industry leading talent agents and casting
directors. In previous years the LA Experience has had
Sharon Lieblein, the head of casting for Nickelodeon, Joey
Paul, who casts for Disney and Cindy Osbrink who represents
Dakota Fanning. Finally, students will meet with actors and
their parents to get a personal account of their experiences
as they have transitioned into the industry and moved to Los
Angeles.

PLATFORM SPOTLIGHT
Miss Tennessee's Outstanding Teen 2008- Madyson Foster
Madyson Foster, Miss TN OT,
has been volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House long
before she ever decided to compete in MAOT. It was an easy
choice when it came time to pick a platform. From January
2008 through May 2008, she decided to organize a volunteer
program for her local school system and called it the Common
Cents program. It collects spare change for the Ronald
McDonald Care Mobile. The Care Mobile provides dental care
for at-risk children that can't receive dental care or just
do not have insurance. The winning class at each school wins
a Happy Meal Party sponsored by local McDonald restaurants.
Also, her high school's Beta Club helped out tremendously by
counting the money and bringing the Happy Meals. She had an
incredible turnout! Four schools participated: Blythe Bower
Elementary, Mayfield Elementary, Arnold Elementary, and
Cleveland High School. With all these schools combined, they
raised over $1,500 just in spare change!

Madyson has also participated
in several other activities with the Ronald McDonald House.
For the past three years, she has been chosen to be the
Vanna girl on Chattanooga's Ronald McDonald House Telethon.
Channel 9 also collaborated and it was broadcast on TV. She
has also dressed up as Wonder Woman and Sully from Monsters
Inc. at their Autumn Children's Festival and also ran a
makeup booth as Tennessee's Outstanding Teen.
Being involved with the program has taught her to be
self-confident, poised, fun, organized, and importantly to
be herself and she said that the program will always stay
close to her heart!
Great job Madyson!
Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen- Amanda Debus
The Delaware
State Office of Volunteerism has announced that Amanda Debus
is the recipient of The Governors Youth Volunteer Service
Award in the area of Public Safety! Amanda is one of
nineteen young adults chosen from throughout the state for
her excellence in service to others. This award celebrates
the volunteer efforts of Delaware's youth, and includes the
areas of community service, public safety, human needs,
social justice advocacy, environmental, arts and culture,
and education. Amanda is being recognized for her service to
public safety in her efforts to educate children about fire
safety and prevention. Although only a high school junior,
Amanda serves as an active member of the Volunteer Hose
Company in Middletown, Delaware. As Miss Delaware's
Outstanding Teen 2008, Amanda has been an advocate for her
platform, "SAFETY: Safety and Fire Education for Today's
Youth." Wearing her fire suit and crown, Amanda visits
schools to educate youth about fire safety and prevention.
Amanda is truly an authentic role model for children and an
example to young girls that they can be whatever they choose
to be!
Amanda was nominated by Mrs.
Melanie Hatter. A valuable Miss Delaware volunteer, Melanie
serves as Dressing Room "Mom" for the Miss Delaware and Miss
Delaware's Outstanding Teen Pageants. Melanie is an
Accounting Specialist for the Department of Natural
Resources and Environmental Control.
Amanda will be honored at an
Awards Ceremony April 23 at Dover Downs Hotel. Amanda's home
school, Middletown High School, will also be recognized.
Gov. Jack Markell will present the awards. The public is
invited to attend. Registration begins at 4:30 pm. Hors
d'oeuvres will be served from 5:00-6:00. The Awards Ceremony

Miss Oregon's Outstanding Teen - JoAnna Adkisson
In
celebration on JoAnna's 18th Birthday, she decided to throw
a Birthday Book Bash at Border's this past weekend. She
signed autographs, shared birthday cake with customers,
distributed information about the Miss Oregon's Outstanding
Teen program and the Children's Miracle Network. As JoAnna
anticipated turning 18, she knew that she wanted to
celebrate in a way that was out of the ordinary and that
would have a significant impact on the children that she has
met during her year of service.
JoAnna said, "Having met so many wonderful children and
families facing medical crisis this year I have seen first
hand how confusing and frightening a hospital stay can be
for them. I have learned that familiar experiences such as
reading can be a great help in calming some of those issues.
As I was anticipating turning 18 I knew that I wanted to
celebrate in a way that was out of the ordinary and that
would have a significant impact on those children."
Much to JoAnna's delight,
customers came out in droves on Saturday and donated over
250 new books which JoAnna will present to Skylakes Medical
Center Pediatric Unit and Oregon's three Children's Miracle
Network hospitals!!
Happy Birthday JoAnna and
Great Job!
Miss Utah's Outstanding
Teen!
Congratulations to Meredith
Gaufin, who recently was recognized as one of the 50 most
fabulous people in Utah Valley. Here is what the
magazine had to say about her:
MEREDITH
GAUFIN
"Outstanding" may be the official adjective used to describe
Meredith Gaufin, but beautiful, talented, smart and giving
would work just as well. Meredith, of Provo, was crowned
Miss Utah's Outstanding Teen in October 2008.
The 17-year old attends Timpview High School where she is
ranked No. 1 in her junior class of 474. She is on the Honor
Roll, is a varsity cheerleader and a founding member of the
Green Team, a recycling program at the school.
Meredith's platform for the scholarship program centers on
helping children with cancer in Utah. She has already raised
more than $1,000 for the Children with Cancer Christmas
Foundation. The funds went to 90 families with children
affected by cancer.
"I decided to raise money for
the organization after one of my sister's friends was
diagnosed with cancer and I saw the toll that it took on her
family," says Meredith, who would like to be a pediatric
oncologist.
Meredith plans to raise more money for the foundation at a
summer luau and golf tournament. .
